Staying current with technology is easier than ever,\u00a0from instructional YouTube videos, to courses on Lynda.com, the resources are endless. Be proactive, so you\u2019re not just promising that you are willing to keep learning, but demonstrating that you do so all the time.\u00a0Why ask\u00a0the intern how to copy and paste text from a web page into a Word document if you can do it yourself. Learn\u00a0how to screen raw footage and edits-in-progress from your desk.<\/p>\n

IT\u00a0and\u00a0cloud computing will soon be\u00a0handling the production and distribution tasks currently done in our machine rooms\u00a0with television-specific hardware. You need to learn about\u00a0the next generation of broadcast infrastructure with a hybrid environment of SDI, files, and video over IP, and\u00a0about emerging formats like\u00a0H265<\/a>\u00a0and resolutions like\u00a04K (UHDTV).<\/p>\n

As file-based production workflows become more prevalent and delivery requirements continue to be refined, you\u00a0need to know as much as possible about the files that are delivered.\u00a0What is\u00a0the methodology behind creating a good metadata schema?<\/a>\u00a0How do you produce compliant CC files? As the post production systems get upgraded, you’ll have access to more than one piece of software.\u00a0Legacy software\u00a0like\u00a0FCP 7\u00a0will still be around, specialized tasks will get done on Blender,<\/a> Fusion<\/a>, Resolve<\/a>, & FCPX<\/a>\u00a0Our documentarians and multi-cam productions are going to use AVID and\u00a0Premiere.\u00a0Designers will use Adobe MAC and\u00a0WIN. Freelancers can use Affinity.<\/a> Most\u00a0units\u00a0will be using Premiere WIN.\u00a0Each system meets a certain need, and in broadcast operations we add\u00a0DAM\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0other digital broadcast systems to the mix\u00a0to allow us to provide material to producers, editors, news, MC, traffic,\u00a0external clients and others.<\/a><\/p>\n
