My day 3 Mon April 29, 2019

I saw Two/One by Ikea’s Beds director Juan Cabral. It’s a well done commercial for people who have nothing to do with each other. One in Canada, Two in China. Pretty images, lots of money spend on CGI.

Ikea’s Beds

Nomad: In the footsteps of Bruce Chatwin.
This is Werner Herzog’s love letter to one of his old hiking buddies from 30 years ago who died of aids and gave Werner his leather rucksack. Featuring Herzog on camera interviewing Chatman’s wife. A big part of the doc is about “Cobra Verde” the film based on Chatwin’s book: “The Viceroy of Ouidah.” Chatwin was on location during the tumultuous, amusing experiences with Klaus Kinsky going crazy and yelling at everyone on set and Herzog trying to control the chaos.

Skateistan recruits kids from impoverished neighbourhoods and teaches them education and life skills, so they can return to, or join, the public school system and get a fair start in life.

Skateistan

For girls, the chance to skateboard presents a unique experience – to compete, to play, to learn their strengths and to gain courage. The film follows a class of girls at Skateistan during a school year as they grow through the joy of skateboarding and the warmth of the women who teach them.
