If you are trying to make a movie on a shoe string budget but want it to have the look and feel of film, this is what to do. Use an Anamorphic Lens adapter that works with your DV Camera. By adding this lens you not only have the 24p frame rate that comes with the camera, but you can also shoot in the 16:9 aspect ratio, so that when your film is screened at film festivals, or anywhere that Wide-screen displays are used, your movie will cinematically stretch out in the 16:9 aspect ratio, instead of looking like a home video in a 4:3 box with black bars on the sides. Now as you may know, most DV cameras come with a 16:9 shooting option, however unless a camera supports Native 16:9, it is merely creating the 16:9 ratio by not using the top and bottom of your frame, thereby losing valuable resolution. The solution is to use an Anamorphic Lens that will optically stretch your image without sacrificing any resolution. All modern editing applications have an anamorphic capture setting so that you can capture and even edit with the footage "unsqueezed".
