SOFTWARE: FCP HD 5 on OS 10.4.2

SOFTWARE: FCP HD 4.5 on OS 10.3.3
HARDWARE: G5 dual 2 MHz 2 gig RAM
PAL project 25fps
BUG: Media manager sometimes makes mistakes copying files of a sequence
that you are consolidating. It can relink to wrong or corrupt files and
change the timeline to reflect the links to these wrong media files leaving
gaps or throwing stuff out of sync.
SOLUTION: 1. Copy the sequence BEFORE you go into media manager 2. Always
COPY, not MOVE media, so that you can go back to the old sequence and
try again. This is good practice anyhow because you dont want to
lose anything because of power or drive failure.
SOFTWARE: AVID MC 7.2 on OS 8.5.1
HARDWARE: 9500 PowerPC 133MHz 384MB RAM
BUG: EXCEPTION NO_CHUNK error message prevents long sequence from playing
because of corrupt media files.
SOLUTION:
Systematically find the corrupt media files, delete them and redigitise
or relink.

BUG: You can't Import SDII (sound designer 2) files into a PAL project,
no matter how you import into the project FCP brings it in as NTSC 29.97
and therefore it will always run out of sync.
SOLUTION: Get the file as AIFF or convert your SDII into AIFF using Quicktime-PRO
or soundapp.

BUG: using Disk Warrior files in folders were recovered. Files that resided
on the base level of the drive disappeared.
SOLUTION: Always put things in folders. Apparently it makes it easier
for Disk Warrior to find them.
I was working in ProTools when all the sudden my picture disappeared.
The drive on which I had the movie had disappeared. On restarting the
drive was no longer recognized by the finder. I ran Disk Warrior and rebuilt
the drive, no problem. However... I discovered that only the files in
folders were recovered. Files that resided on the base level of the drive
disappeared So, the movies I exported from Final Cut that I had saved
to the base level were now gone, but the movies in the Capture Scratches
folder were o.k. Hope that saves you a headache someday.
